An Influential Look at Colonial South America
The exhibition features striking devotional paintings, grand portraits, and finely detailed works painted on copper. Many of the pieces are recent acquisitions and will be displayed, studied, and published for the first time. Beyond religious imagery, the exhibition highlights the cultural exchange that shaped the region. Indigenous American, European, and African artists contributed to a vibrant artistic tradition that continues to offer new perspectives on South American history and culture.
