Mexican soccer legend Javier “Chicharito” Hernández joins Atlético Dallas on a two-year contract, becoming the club’s first official player.
Atlético Dallas has officially made history by signing legendary Mexican striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernández as the club’s first player. The two-year agreement, with a club option for a third season, marks the beginning of a new era for the USL Championship club as it prepares for its inaugural 2027 season.
Mexico’s all-time leading goal scorer, Hernández brings nearly two decades of elite experience, having played for some of the world’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United, Sevilla FC, LA Galaxy, and Chivas Guadalajara.
Club Founder and Chairman Matt Valentine said Hernández embodies the leadership, humility, and competitive spirit Atlético Dallas hopes to build its culture around. Hernández shared that he joined the club not to finish his career, but to help build the future of soccer in Dallas, inspire the next generation of players, and create a winning culture for supporters from day one.
