Renowned restaurant creator, Michael Rodriguez founder of Mi Cocina, Taco Diner and currently Mr Mesero has added another delicious installment to his list of Dallas Restaurants. Michael, better known as “Mico” pleased his crowd on Saturday night for the opening of MESERO MIGUEL on Henderson Ave. The former two story building where Lemon Bar, Alma and Cuba Libre once operated in has taken over with a complete makeover. The design of the restaurant is a spin-off upscale version of Mr Mesero with a 1960’s Palm Springs Vibe.
The first floor features a large dining area with three Las Vegas type leather booths fitting up to ten guests, open glass sliding doors that extend into the patio and an interior higher step end room with mirrored walls. The ambiance was very inviting and the music was perfect with songs like, Volver Volver and El Rey by Vicente Fernandez.
The second floor is named The Pedro Room and Tequila Bar, which pays tribute to Pedro Almodovar, the Spanish film director. This room showcases portraits of Pedro’s Films such as Penelope Cruz in “VOLVER”, “Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”, “Tie Me Up! Tie MeDown!” and “Talk to Her”. Mico told us that Almodovar was a big influence and inspiration on him and wanted to pay homage. For a private gathering make sure you request the Pedro VIP room which is section that is enclosed with white sheer curtains for more privacy.
MESERO MIGUEL is an American Grill with a Mexican Menu serving different types of dishes for everyone. A great Tex-Mex restaurant begins with chips and salsas and Mico nailed it. The variation of salsas included, chile de arbol, chile habanero, chile guajillo and avocado tomatillo salsa. For starters you can begin with beef brisket nachos con crema & avocado or even the maine lobster citrus and cucumber ceviche. For the light eaters enjoy the jumbo lump crab or the white shrimp “taco” salad. Entrees include Mexican combination plates such as Chicken Mole Enchiladas to chorizo tacos or American entrees like spicy pork sausage flatbreads.
The spicy cocktails are a must! Try the Herradura Silver with lime and orange or the Serrano Herradura reposado with lime, ginger and mango. If you want to go for the classic choose the “Pedro”, which is equivalent to the Mr Mesero “El Santo”.
After Micos depart from the MCrowd Group he opened Mr Mesero about a year ago. Dallas has been fortunate to have Mico back in the game spoiling us with his delicious creations of Tex Mex food, margaritas and service. We asked Mico about future locations and Mico says “I’m opening a third restaurant in March. It’ll be a second branch of Mesero Miguel, in Inwood Village on Lovers Lane”. We thank you and congratulate you Mico and wish you more success with all your future projects!
