Safety Message from the Irving Fire Department: TAKING CARE OF OUR NEIGHBORS

***According to the National Weather Service, in 2011 Texas numbered the most heat victims, 46 and a total of 206 people died in the U.S. as a result of extreme heat, up significantly from 138 fatalities in 2010.***

The Irving Fire Department asks everyone to please make a special effort to CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS DURING A HEAT WAVE, especially if they are seniors, young children, and people with special needs. Many older residents live alone and could suffer unnecessarily in the heat because they are isolated from friends and family.

With extreme temperatures it is important to check on each other, especially our seniors and children. That is why we remind everyone to please TAKE CARE OF OUR NEIGHBORS.
