Looking for fun, free, and educational activities for the little ones this summer? With the return of Art Tales, the museum’s beloved free, weekly summer program for families! Held every Wednesday from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. through June and July, Art Tales invites kids (up to age 8) and their grown‑ups to explore stories, art, gallery games, crafts, and live performances—all inspired by the museum’s collection. As part of the Carter’s Access initiative to provide a fun and welcoming experience for visitors of all abilities, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during all auditorium performances during Art Tales.

    Weekly Themes & Highlights

Each week of Art Tales features a fresh, kid‑friendly theme paired with engaging activities:

    June 18 – Jam Session
Celebrate music! Try percussion with Mark Shelton and create music-themed art inspired by musical works in the museum

    June 25 – Working Together
Focus on collaboration inspired by Jean Shin’s pieces, with a performance from David Chicken and group art projects

    July 9 – Snack Attack!
Combine storytelling, tasty-themed crafts, and a lively show by Brown Girls Do Ballet

    July 16 – Powerful Patterns
Engage with polka dots, stripes, and zigzags—through story, art, and a performance by A Real Mad Hatter

July 23 – Fur, Feathers, and Scales
Dive into the animal kingdom with Creature Teacher, and crafts inspired by creatures great and small

    July 30 – Material Mixup
Reimagine recycled materials with Brandi Waller Pace leading a musical and art mashup finale

Activities include storytelling, gallery games, hands-on crafts, and live performances, available through July 30th. Each week features a new theme and fresh creative experiences, making it the perfect way to beat the heat while sparking imagination.
