Stress, anxiety, and fear are emotions often associated with the yearly filing of a tax return and with so many changes anticipated for the 2019 tax season, plus the average cost of a tax return for a working family can range from $50 to $800 – tax filing can be overwhelming.
For many taxpayers, there is relief from paying such high rates by utilizing a free tax preparation service, such as the Dallas Community Tax Centers (DCTC), a program of Foundation Communities. DCTC is a volunteer income tax assistance program (VITA) sponsored by the IRS, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, the City of Dallas and several foundations to provide NO COST tax preparation to individuals and families that earn $58,000 or less in a year.
The Dallas Community Tax Centers hold a long standing in Dallas operating eight (8) locations open throughout the county and have completed over 96,000 tax return since 2009 saving North Texas taxpayers $24.5 million in tax preparation fees. Staff site coordinators have expert knowledge regarding tax preparation, as every tax preparer is IRS-Certified. DCTC provides various options for working families to file their tax return with comfort and ease.
Walk-In Dallas Community Tax Centers open 5 days a week at each location, opening January 23, 2019.
