Black History Month at Mountain View College

In celebration of Black History Month, Mountain View College will host numerous events and activities which will include special guest speakers who will enlighten, enthuse and motivate.

Sample speakers and events include:

February 16, at 11 a.m. Location: S1029/1030 Nationally acclaimed motivational speaker Dr. Samuel Jones will inspire students, sharing his book “The Man I Never Knew.”

February 17, THE BSO IDOL NIGHT!  7 p.m. Location Performance Hall. An evening of talent and competition!  Special guest artist Cary Simms, Jazz Saxophonist will perform for intermission.

February 21, 11 a.m. Location: S1029/1030. The return of the Boston Park Rangers!  National Park Service Rangers Ryan McNabb and Dana Smith from the Boston Black Heritage Trail in Boston will share the history of the African American Freedom Trail in Boston, Mass.

February 22, The Annual African American Read In, 12:30 p.m. in the Tree Top Lounge.  Students and Staff will share memories, music and the written word of African American Writers.  Refreshments will be provided.

February 28, 12:30 p.m. Location: S1029/1030  Dallas City Councilmen, Dwaine R. Caraway he will be sharing views on the importance of political awareness, civil rights, voting and our civic duty.

The college’s theme for Black History Month is: Our Legacy: Through Music, Sports and the Spoken Word.
