Dallas Golf Classic to benefit non-profit high schools for at-risk youth

Dallas Can Academies presents the annual Dallas Can Cares for Kids Golf Classic on September 19, 2016 at Prestonwood Country Club.  The Tournament benefits the students who attend the six dropout recovery campuses in Dallas County. The annual fundraiser offers businesses and community members a chance to enjoy 18-holes of golf while also contributing to this non-profit organization that is changing lives everyday by providing the education and support needed to help their students graduate from high school.

Former Dallas Cowboy and Super Bowl Champion, Tony Casillas, is the Honorary Chair. Steve Dennis and Mark Friedman, “Dennis & Friedo,” with ESPN Radio will broadcast live from the event. Mike Snyder will emcee the awards ceremony and dinner.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a shotgun start at noon. Tournament registration fees are $300 per individual or $1,000 for a foursome, and include lunch, a golf cart, 18 holes of golf, refreshments on the course and dinner. Following the tournament, there will be an awards ceremony and recognition dinner.  All donations are tax-deductible.

Sponsorships ranging from Presenting Sponsor to Individual Holes are also available.  Participants will be able to enter various competitions held in conjunction with the tournament for prizes, including longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one.

“The Dallas Can Golf Classic is an important fundraising effort for our Dallas Can Academies,” said Richard Marquez, president and CEO of Texans Can Academies. “We are thrilled that our tournament has become an event to look forward to and honored and humbled by the commitment of support to our students from our sponsors and players.”

Dallas Can believes providing a strong education to graduate thinkers is the foundation for breaking the cycle of generational poverty and illiteracy. Through its parent organization, Texans Can Academies, more than 130,000 students have been given a second chance at life with the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
