    EXHIBITIONS

    Chantal Lesley

As I Lay It All To Rest

    August 1 – September 12, 2025

We carry so much within us: memories, regrets, unspoken words, and lingering ghosts that echo in the quiet hours of the night. As I Lay It All to Rest is an excavation of these restless thoughts, an exploration of what it means to release, to surrender, and to live with the weight of what cannot be undone.

Chantal Lesley (she/her) is an artist based in Austin, TX. As a multicultural, first-generation American born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley along the U.S./Mexico border, Lesley’s work is deeply informed by her experience of being stretched between four cultures. The daughter of Peruvian and German immigrants, she explores themes of identity, belonging, and contemporary social and political issues through her art.

    SCREENING

    AT THE PAN-AFRICAN CONNECTION

Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 4:30 PM at the Texas Theatre

Join the Oak Cliff Cultural Center (OC3) at the Texas Theatre for a screening of At the Pan-African Connection (2025) on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 4:30 PM (doors at 4:00 PM). This presentation of the film is open to the public.

As socio economic progress stalls in Black America, filmmaker, Anthony Asota, searches for answers at a local Black bookstore in Dallas.  Can his community’s struggles be overcome, or did the unity and equity they seek die with their past decades?

Immediately following the showing, Jerry Hawkins, Founder of The Hawkins Archives and Works, will moderate a panel discussion with Akwete Tyehimba, CEO/Owner of Pan-African Connection, Marilyn Clark, Founder of Black Cinematheque, and Patrick Washington, Board Chair of Dallas Weekly.
