Under the Big Top: Meet Dani Quintanar of ECHO

In the world of Cirque du Soleil, where artistry meets athleticism, Dani Quintanar brings something deeply personal to the stage.

Born in Sonora, Mexico and now based in Puerto Vallarta, Dani’s journey into circus wasn’t traditional—it was instinctive. Drawn to movement from a young age, she explored everything from gymnastics to dance, eventually carving her own path through workshops and underground creative communities across Mexico. That versatility became her signature.

Now performing in Cirque du Soleil ECHO, Dani is part of a striking duo act that blends suspension capillary and buccal strength—an intense, visually poetic discipline where her partner is suspended by the mouth. Rooted in tradition but reimagined through a contemporary lens, the act feels less like a stunt and more like a moving piece of art.

Her path to ECHO began with a spark of inspiration after watching a performance in Volta. During the stillness of the pandemic, she and her husband created her now-signature act from the ground up—eventually leading her to Cirque du Soleil.

Life on tour is demanding: daily conditioning, precision preparation, and a meticulous hair routine essential to her performance. But performing under the big top offers a rare gift—connection. Unlike arena tours, ECHO allows artists like Dani to travel alongside loved ones, grounding a life that’s constantly in motion.

As a Latina artist in a global company, Dani embraces the cultural exchange while proudly carrying her roots onto the stage. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue performing while eventually stepping into production.

For now, she remains exactly where she belongs—suspended between strength and storytelling, captivating audiences one performance at a time. Be sure to check her out and the rest of the Cirque du Soleil artists and crew now through May 3rd, at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie. It’s a show you won’t want to miss!
