In 2011, The Phantom of the Opera celebrated its 25th Anniversary becoming the longest running show on Broadway playing every night to almost sold out performances.
Americans love Phantom! And now a second part for the fans is coming to the big screen. On February 28th, Fathom events presented the live theatrical performance of Love Never Dies from Australia and it is back by popular demand for an encore presentation March 7th (check for local listings).
Most people say sequels hardly ever work but Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has really outdone himself giving the best of his music to the world. The story is also far more complex than Phantom and has two major twists that fans will find hard to believe their own eyes.
The Australian production is amazing! The revolving stage facilitates the flow of the story and the changing sets with acrobatic acts gives it a very “Cirque du Soleil” feel.
So far the first screening was extremely successful and there is much buzz about the possibility of having Love Never Dies on the Broadway stage. Considering that a normal ticket on Broadway is around $55 you better run to a theater and catch the filmed performance at only $11. It will be worth your time!
