Dallas artist Jeremy Michael Calhoun presents his first collection of more than forty original bow ties done with mixed media in fabrics, metals, wood, and plastic. The bow tie originated among Croation mercenaries during the Prussian wars of the 17th century, and was soon adopted by the French with the formal name cravat, which is French for “Croat”. Bow ties have always been associated with different professions such as architects, attor- neys, educators, and politicians, but have graduated to an art form in recent years. The artist’s adventurous and unique adaptions have a placement for fashion aficionados and collectors alike.
The show benefits AIDS Interfaith Network. The reception is free and open to the public. The 2013 Mercedes Benz donated by Park Place Motors to be auctioned in November at the Black Tie Dinner will also be featured at the opening reception. Auction tickets will be available for $100.00 each with only 2,000 tickets being sold.
