It’s going to be Fridamania! Celebrate Frida Kahlo’s 110th birthday and help the Dallas Museum of Art and the Latino Center for Leadership Development (LatinoCLD) set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Frida Kahlo in one place. During Frida Fest, enjoy a dance performance by Dallas Black Dance Theatre, makeup with Reina Rebelde, a México 1900-1950–inspired menu with margaritas on tap in the DMA Cafe, and $6 off special exhibition tickets to México 1900-1950: Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, and the Avant-Garde.

Dallas Black Dance Theatre presents Frida, Frida, Frida! 7:00 p.m., Atrium
Dallas Black Dance Theatre will take you on a short journey following the evolution and phases of Frida Kahlo’s life, pain, love, and art.
Set a Guinness World Record 8:00 p.m. (check-in 7:30 p.m.), Ross Avenue Plaza
Be part of history and help the DMA and the LatinoCLD set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Frida Kahlo! Check-in begins at 7:30 p.m. for individuals dressed as Frida Kahlo (see the guidelines below).
Each participant must wear the following items per Guinness World Records, and items cannot be shared between two individuals:
- A unibrow drawn onto the face joining the eyebrows; this can be done with make-up or by sticking hair.
- Artificial flowers worn in the hair; a minimum of three artificial flowers must be worn.
- A red or pink shawl.
- A flower-printed dress that extends below the knees on all sides; the dress must not have any slits up the side.
If you do not meet the criteria listed above, you won’t be able to participate in the record attempt per the Guinness World Records’ guidelines. Film: Frida Kahlo: A Ribbon Around a Bomb presented by Itzcuintli Films and Teatro Dallas 8:00 p.m., C3 Theater
Weaving excerpts from Teatro Dallas’s production of Abraham Oceransky’s play The Diary of Frida Kahlo with poetry, music, interviews with Kahlo’s students and friends, and her art, this film is a portrait of an artist whose life and work speaks to today’s audiences.
