Artes de la Rosa presents: The Rose Marine Latino Film Festival

To preserve and honor, promote and foster Latino film making history.

 Fort Worth, TX- Artes de la Rosa is proud to present the 2nd Annual ROSE MARINE LATINO FILM FESTIVAL. The festival will run Friday, February 24th thru Sunday, February 26th, 2012 at the Rose Marine Theater.After a successful inaugural event in 2011, the festival returns tothe ROSE MARINE THEATER with focus on award winning Latino independent films from Texas, New Vork, Chicago, Los Angeles and beyond. Special ticket prices are available for groups of 10 or more. The Rose Marine Theater is located on 1440 North Main St., in Fort Worth’s historic North Side district.

The three day event will open with the Telly Award winning short documentary of the theater featured on PBS, “The Rose: A Sense of Place”. The program will include full-length features, shorts program and host an educational collaborative composed of topic panels with the filmmakers, established artists, educators and professionals in the industry. This year, the festival focuses on women in film. RMLFF releases the partial list of films.

ENTRE NOS (Within Us -regional debut), directed by Gloria La Morte, tells the story of a young mother in Queens left to fend for herself and her children in a foreign land after her life takes an unexpected turn. Awarded at Tribeca Film Festival and Ashland Independent, the film is recognized by Michael Moore as the top twenty films of the year in 2009.

ALL SHE CAN (Fort Worth debut), directed by Amy Wendel, is a Texas original about a young high school student taking power lifting to new heights for a scholarship that can change her life. The 2011 Sundance Grand Jury Nominee features DFW local actors Julio Cedillo and Cora Cardona.

CAPSULAS (Capsules -regional debut), directed by Veronica Riedel, is a courageous film about a boy’s rebellious attempt to find his biological father while caught in the middle of a drug trade. In the hands of Guatemala’s first female directors, “Capsulas” is a multiple-award winning sensation on the Latino International Film Festival circuit and a winner at the Women International Film Festival for Best Dramatic Feature Film.

IT IS ROCKET SCIENCE IN PRESIDIO (World Premiere), directed by Academy and Emmy Award winning director Nigel Noble, is a short documentary of a Texas border town physics teacher and her students’ unprecedented success in national science and rocketry competitions.

The festival was created to preserve and honor the Latino cinematic history of the Rose Marine Theater with the mission to promote and foster upcoming filmmakers, students, local and national artists for an event that will highlight the diversity, culture and arts in Fort Worth. Initiated and co-produced with Artes de la Rosa by Claudia Acosta and Liza Rodriguez, the Rose Marine Latino Film Festival is in collaboration withHispanic Women’s Network of Texas, Endeavor Cinema Group, and Lone Star Film Society.
