As the holiday season approaches, Dallas County is preparing to ensure that all travelers stay safe on the roads. With more people hitting the streets for family gatherings, shopping, and travel, local authorities are stepping up their efforts to prevent accidents and promote safe driving practices. As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and to promote responsible drinking, the Dallas County DWI Task Force is launching the #WhatAlcoholSays campaign. The campaign aims to highlight the impact that alcohol can have on decision-making, encouraging people to reflect on the way alcohol influences behavior and to make safer choices—whether that’s designating a driver, using a rideshare service, or staying where you are until you’re sober.
This year, 39 Dallas County businesses signed up to promote road safety by providing discounted Lyft rides to patrons, starting the day before Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.
“The bedrock of our $15 billion nighttime economy is safety, and this campaign ensures our nighttime economy will continue to grow and thrive around the clock and through the bustling holidays when there is an uptick in consumer spending.
-Bryan Tony, 24HourDallas Good Neighbor Initiative Project Manager
This holiday season, and beyond, let’s remember that alcohol might say one thing, but you have the power to make the responsible choice.
