Latino Fashion Week: WHAT YOU MISSED!

DALLAS, TX (August 22, 2012)-All of Dallas dressed to the finest last Thursday night as they gathered at Lofty Spaces in Dallas for the Annual Latino Fashion Week 2012. The evening began with a very chic and relaxed cocktail where sweets from Mocha Bakery were laid out for the attendees to enjoy as they waited for the big night to begin. DJ Jose Guevara spun the turntables as more fashionistas made their way and mingled with other fellow couture-lovers.

During the cocktail reception, attendees were able to embrace the designs of POLITE from Colombia. As the clock struck a little past 7:30 pm, the lovely Gabriela Natale, host of the TV show SuperLatina, welcomed the crowd. Co-Founders Arabel Alva Rosales and Cesar Rolon Jr. also had the opportunity to welcome the crowd and give a peek of their vision for this movement. Right away the night began with a bang, as Camilo Alvarez’s collection from iFashion walked the runway. Another designer from iFashion followed up as well- Tata Jolie from Venezuela. Her designs were exquisite, feminine and floral. Coming up after Jolie, Yirko Sivirich from Peru took over the runway with his collection specifically for men. From striped swimwear to casual wear, Yirko Sivirich made sure men and women enjoyed his collection. To close the runway– the very talented John Dunn from “La Isla del Encanto” Puerto Rico. In a previous interview he told InformateDFW that his collection was filled with clean, classic lines and audiences could expect to see fabrics from all over the world. He did exactly that, from wedding gowns to lingerie and feathers to sequins, John Dunn’s collection catered to every woman’s fashion need.

Latino Fashion Week 2012 has definitely made its mark in the Dallas Latino community. Co-Founders Rosales and Rolon put on a fashion show hard to forget. Thursday night was only the beginning of greater things to come for this movement. Latino Fashion Week promises to come back next year even better and greater.
