Dallas ISD News from District 4

District 4 schools contribute to Dallas ISD’s success.

Recently, Dallas ISD held its inaugural State of the District luncheon where Superintendent Michael Hinojosa shared the district’s accomplishments and plans for the future with more than 700 community members, business leaders, district staff and parents.

District 4 schools contributed to these successes, especially Edward Titche Elementary School, whose principal, Damien Stovall, was named Elementary Principal of the Year recently. When Stovall arrived at Titche, the school was on the verge of closure due to years of not meeting state standards. Stovall’s dedication and leadership took the campus from being an “F” rated school to a “B” campus in one year, as well as obtaining all six state distinctions. Stovall believes that anything is possible when there is the vision, goals and plan to get the job done.

Important resources, free immunizations for children, vision screenings, health screenings, entertainment and more will be available to District 4 families Saturday, Feb. 23, at the PREP U Super Saturday and Family Fun Fest. The event is free and open to all families and will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at W.W. Samuell High School, located at 8928 Palisade Drive. For questions about the event, contact the Office of Family and Community Engagement at family@dallasisd.org or call (972) 925-3916.

The H. Grady Spruce High School Alumni Association and the H. Grady Spruce High School Senior Class of 2019 have announced the creation of the H. Grady Spruce High School Hall of Fame. For the very first time in the school’s history, Spruce High School will honor famous alumni and those who have made a positive impact in their community. Nominations for the H. Grady Spruce Hall of Fame are due March 1. Inductees will be honored at the H. Grady Spruce “Legends “Gala in April.
