First New York then LA now Dallas, Texas! Young Latin Artist, Renzo stops by to promote his latest single, “Perdi El Control”. He has been featured in Primer Impacto, Despierta America, Sabado Gigante and now we get the chance to interview him and ask him a few questions.
RENZO sprints into 2014 as his single “PERDI EL CONTROL” charts at #5 on Billboard Tropical Airplay; the video, directed by Guillermo Mueses, has chalked up more than 70,000 views on YouTube in just a couple of weeks.
For an artist who debuted only last year, his accomplishments are quite striking. In April 2013, he performed at a showcase in Santo Domingo where local press attended; they discovered a unique talent with a firm professional background in dance and choreography, and a brilliant future as singer/songwriter. They were also delighted to see a young Dominican performer deeply excited about vintage merengue from the 80s, and who has found a unique way to blend the signature sound of Quisqueya with the mosaic of musical styles heard on the streets of New York.
During 2013, RENZO was featured on Primer Impacto in a lengthy segment recorded on South Beach with Tony Andrades. He participated in promotional events across the Northeast where his single, “Mi favorita” lingered at number 1 for weeks. In July, he performed as part of the concert series Descarga- a major summer event in the Latin industry hosted by Mun2 and Telemundo. He recorded an R & B version of “Mi favorita” featuring Mikey from Aventura and performed it live with Max on Divertido Con Jochy in Santo Domingo.
RENZO is in the process of recording his album, slated for release in 2014. The production will include merengue in RENZO’s personal style- fusion of traditional orchestral merengue with elements of R & B and other pop music. It will also feature straight R & B versions of RENZO’s original compositions, with many surprises in store. Stay tuned!
