Texas BEST Robotics, in partnership with the Dallas Sports Commission, recently hosted a press conference to preview the upcoming BEST of Texas Robotics Championship, scheduled for December 4-7, 2024, at the Fair Park Dallas Coliseum. The event is set to bring together nearly 90 competitive teams and 13 first-time Rookie Bowl teams and has gained tremendous support from key community partners, including the University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Instruments, Qorvo, Stacer Group, and MathWorks.
The BEST of Texas Robotics is dedicated to sparking a passion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) in the hearts of middle and high school students. By fostering creativity and innovation, BEST of Texas Robotics aims to empower the next generation to harness the potential of these disciplines to solve real-world challenges.
“Our competition hones the necessary skills to create a dynamic workforce of tomorrow while ensuring our youth are inspired and having fun! Throughout the U.S. 36.8 million people in diverse STEAM occupations constitute 24% of the country’s total workforce*. BEST of Texas Robotics sees our future with the brightest minds and innovators right here at Fair Park,” noted Executive Director Johannes Starks.
This year’s Texas BEST Championship Game will feature over 160 volunteers and is expected to draw an audience of more than 3,500 attendees. The event offers four days of intense competition, showcasing the achievements of students from more than 300 schools across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico.
Additionally, this year includes unique community partnerships to enhance the competitors’ experience:
- $15,000 of donations contributed to BEST of Texas Robotics during North Texas Giving Day provided complimentary meals to all students and teams
- The complimentary meals will be provided by DeSoto and Duncanville ISD’s culinary programs.
- The GeoDeck, Perot Museum of Nature and Science and Tech Truck, as well as Blue Origin’s Postcards from Space will give participants enhanced cultural and educational enrichment during the competition
- Industry and Alumni Panels will be presented on Friday including a NASA keynote speaker, Glenn Johnson
“The entire Stacer Group team is honored to support BEST of Texas Robotics (BTR). BTR is a leader in dynamic, relevant competitions accessible to all students. Due to an exemplary leadership group centered on the student experience there is a plethora of activities available to participants. We are excited to see the upcoming innovative solutions of all the students this year,” remarked Colt Stacer, founder and co-owner of Stacer Group.
In 2023, the event generated an estimated $970,000 in economic impact. With a 15% growth in participation expected this year, the economic contribution is projected to be even higher in 2024, bringing even more attention to the educational and economic benefits of STEAM-focused events.
The Texas BEST Championship Game is not just a competition — it’s a celebration of innovation, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence. BEST of Texas Robotics, through its partnerships with educational institutions and corporate sponsors, is working to ensure that every student has the opportunity to explore and realize their potential in STEAM.
