DALLAS ISD MAGNET SCHOOL FAIR SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 1

Information provided on magnets, academy, and vanguards programs;

schools offering these programs will host open houses

DALLAS—The Dallas Independent School District invites students interested in enrolling in the district’s magnet program for the 2013-2014 school year to attend the annual Magnet School Fair from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, December 1. The fair will be held at Skyline High School, 7777 Forney Rd. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students.

Dallas ISD’s magnet program includes vanguards for elementary school students, academies for middle school, and magnets for high school students. These schools provide students the opportunity to explore special areas of interest in addition to the traditional academic studies.

The requirements to attend the magnet schools vary by school, and the application process is highly competitive because only a limited number of students can be accepted each year.

Each of the schools offering these programs will host an open house at various times between December 3-14.

Applications will be available December 3 at all Dallas ISD schools and the Administration Building, as well as on the Dallas ISD Web site at www.dallasisd.org. The applications may be submitted beginning January 8, 2013 through January 31, 2013.
